Fireside chat with Gen. (Rtd.) Philippe Lavigne

The Council on Geostrategy and ADS are pleased to invite you to our upcoming fireside chat event with Gen. (Rtd.) Philippe Lavigne, Supreme Allied Commander NATO Transformation (2021-2024).

The session entitled ‘Shaping the Future of the Alliance: Winning as a Team’ will focus on how NATO can stay ahead of the curve, outpacing its adversaries and competitors in a volatile world. This event will take place on 10th February 2025.

The fireside chat will delve into critical questions surrounding NATO’s strategic evolution, covering key topics from future capabilities requirements to strategic partnerships and military planning.

• It will examine how NATO leverages industry partnerships and public-private cooperation to maintain its advantage and readiness, and analyse how Allied Command Transformation (ACT) has enhanced proactive military strategy and planning.
• Crucially, the discussion will explore NATO’s approach to Multi-Domain Operations, assessing the need for a mindset shift to accelerate innovation.
• Furthermore, it will investigate key steps NATO is taking to integrate rapidly conventional air, maritime, land, space, and cyber capabilities with emerging and disruptive technologies.
• Finally, the event will consider how NATO intends to enhance the use of wargames as strategic tools in 2025 and beyond.

Supreme Allied Commander NATO Transformation (2021-2024)

Gen. (Rtd.) Philippe Lavigne is the former Supreme Allied Commander for NATO Transformation. Between 2021 and 2024, he tackled the challenges of a rapidly changing global environment, promoting the ‘one for all and all for one’ mindset, and ensuring NATO’s readiness to deter and defend across physical, psychological, and virtual domains. His focus on integrating emerging and disruptive technologies has been instrumental in enhancing civil-military and private-public cooperation.
